Description: NEW 2CD SET – LAUGHING IN THE FACE OF FAILURE – OCT 6. Bullets and Octane are a punk/hard rock band originally from St. Louis, MO and now based in Southern California. The band has been touring in Europe and North America since December 31, 1998.
Biography: With hordes of sound-alike, look-alike, act-alike punk bands emerging from the clubs and recording studios of Southern California over the past decade-plus, you’d think that any remote deviation from the accepted norm in the scene would be scowled and frowned upon by audiences comfortable with the lack of innovation and meager compositions. But, for Orange County-based Bullets and Octane, such reaction is the exact opposite. This no-bullshit, pure-attitude punk-bred rock ‘n roll group has received nothing but praise, adulation and in turn, have developed a rabid fan base that has continually packed clubs throughout the region.~ ArtistDirect.com

Bullets and Octane frontman Gene Louis grew up in St. Louis with a jazz drummer father who taught his son how to play his instrument at an early age, and soon the young musician was sitting in at his father’s gigs. When Louis and longtime friend and bassist Brent Clawson moved to Orange County, CA, to start Bullets and Octane in 1999, Louis stayed behind the kit, but when the lead singer quit, he decided to step up to the position of vocalist. Soon Ty Smith, a popular punk studio drummer, and guitarist James Daniel, another Missourian, joined the duo. In 2004 they released Revelry on Criterion Records, and after a European tour opening for Avenged Sevenfold, their second album, In the Mouth of the Young, came out in 2006 on RCA. ~ Marisa Brown, All Music Guide

The band has made numerous changes since 2006 and have taken a long break from touring. 2009 will see the rebirth of Bullets and Octane, who are now taking back control of their careers. Singer Gene Louis and bassist Brent Clawson remain intact and are now rounded out by guitarists Jack Tankersley and Kevin Besignano and joined by Brian Totten on the drums. The band will spend Nov 2009 touring the Western part of the US and Dec 2009 touring the UK in support of their self-released double cd “Laughing In The Face Of Failure”.
